BACKPACKING ADVENTURE CAMP

Camp Wilderness
Thu, Aug 6 to Sun Aug 9, 2020

$125 early bird rate until two weeks before camp. Discount taken at check-out.

DESCRIPTION

For AJTC graduates. BAC is a nine-mile, two-day adventure designed for those who want to spend time on the trail learning and developing backpacking skills with classes, such as

  • trail equipment
  • Low impact camping
  • Emergency first aid
  • Map and compass
  • and rescue techniques.

Instruction is based on the Green and Silver Backpacking merits. Trail teams will camp and work together. Participants will carry their gear and food in backpacks and will share in tasks and leadership responsibilities. They will live in tents and prepare their meals. They will be given many opportunities to demonstrate what they have learned about living in the backcountry.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Register on Campwise. Registration closes two weeks ahead of camp.
  2. Pack all the items on the kit list yourself! That way you know where to find it.
  3. Arrive before 10am, leave your gear in the Training Center and report to Commander Kilde in the office. Camp starts on a Thursday so you may miss 2 days of school.
  4. Arrange for your parents to attend your graduation at noon on Sunday, you go home with them after that.
  5. Make sure your Commander gives you credit for any merit requirements you achieved at camp (Backpacking, Compass).
  6. Staff have to be approved by the Camp Commander before registering on Campwise and need to get Pastor reference form signed and turn it in at camp registration. Yup, you'll need one for every camp.
